Ontario Self-Employment Benefit (OSEB) Program

Applications are no longer being accepted to the Ontario Self Employment Benefit. The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities will resume accepting applications for the program in Spring 2010. Please consult Employment Ontario at the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities for any additional information that may become available.

The OSEB Program is one of the most unique self-employment programs in the world today. Successful applicants experience 10 weeks of intensive business skills development training while completing a comprehensive business plan that fully supports their business idea. In addition, participants are provided with ongoing business advisor counseling services and income support for up to one year while they develop and implement their business plan.

You may be eligible if you have a business idea and are:

• Currently collecting Employment Insurance (EI) benefits
• Unemployed and have received EI benefits within the last 36 months
• Unemployed and received maternity/paternity leave EI benefits that started within the last 60 months, withdrew from the workforce, and are seeking to re-enter the labour force
